A native of Ireland, Dermot began his business career in London with a leading advertising agency and later in new product development. After completing his MBA at Northwestern University, he continued his successful career in marketing and management consulting before launching an Internet business in 1997. With experience at both large companies like Unilever USA in Greenwich, Connecticut, and Collett Dickenson Pearce Advertising in London, Dermot has gained a diverse business background.

Dermot started his real estate career in East Hampton, New York, before moving to Florida in 2003, where he focused on the exclusive enclave of Singer Island. Working on-site for a condominium developer, he successfully sold 40 multi-million dollar properties, earning a prestigious project award. He continued to deepen his market knowledge and successfully assisted clients in selling their properties during a challenging market, earning top producer awards in 2008, 2009, and 2010.

In 2010, Dermot founded Islands Realty, later renamed Dermot OBrien Realty, with an office in the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Hotel & Resort. His dedication to concierge-style service, innovative marketing, and cutting-edge technology helped establish his boutique agency as a premier choice in the area. With over 20 years of experience in real estate sales, Dermot’s tenacity and client rapport have made him a respected Realtor. He has sold nearly 300 properties and represented landlords and tenants in over 150 transactions.
